My Birthday--Your Gift!

On Saturday, I will be turning the big 3-9! I remember crying hysterically when I turned 29 about how my life was over. Well my 30s were pretty great so I'm not going to stress out about this 39 business.  In fact,  I thought we could celebrate w/ a little blog candy.
I have 2 NEW clear sets that both have a birthday saying in them.   I thought in the spirit of 39th birthdays, I would offer them.  :)

Afterthoughts (one of my FAVORITE retired hostess sets)

Happy Moments (a cute little former sale-a-bration set for all occasions)

Here's the RULES:
  • Leave me a comment w/ your first name and email address (if you aren't comfortable leaving your email address on my blog, email me at stampiepoo@gmail.com using BIRTHDAY for the subject).

  • Tell me what set you would like if you are chosen.

  • Finally tell me how you would like to celebrate your next birthday.
I will use Random.Org to pick 2 winners on the morning of my birthday (Saturday, September 3rd)-one for each stamp set.  I can only ship to U.S. addresses, sorry!

P.S.
If you are wondering, yes this is my VERY FIRST 39th birthday.

Carthage Pennant Owl

This little owl comes to the rescue again.  This time he's going to a girl that is attending Carthage w/ my daughter.  We didn't didn't make it to Emily's graduation back in July and then *insert a couple dozen excuses here* I didn't get her card sent out.  Now it seems silly to send a graduation card-especially when they move into their dorms on Sunday. So after seeing Andrea Walford's post awhile back (early July I believe)  with a pdf file to print on these cute letters, I decided to make her a Carthage Pennant Owl card.

I think he's pretty cute holding up his pennant.  What do you think?  :)

Tea Time

I have had the most fun today.  I spent most of my day stamping.  Terry didn't have to work so he played w/ Evan and well...I just played.  :)

I have been working on using up that package of Afternoon Tea dsp.  I have made almost 50 cards w/ it so far and I still have a couple more sheets to use up.

I think the sketch I have been using for the cards is a Mojo Monday Sketch.  However, now that I am looking for the number I can't locate it.  It's a good one--I love their sketches!

These cards all have sentiments from Petite Pairs. I {heart} this stamp set!

This is probably my least favorite of all the cards.  I REALLY wish I hadn't sold the Groovy Guava cardstock.  LOL

This is my personal favorite.  A little softer than the others. Oh and WOOHOO I found some soft sky ribbon!  YEA!!!

Have a Fruity Halloween

I can't believe that Riley Kate goes back to school in one week and Dani leaves for college just two day after that!  It's crazy how fast this summer has flown by.  I am; however, ready for cooler temps, sweatshirts, hot apple cider, changing of leaves and HALLOWEEN!  Halloween is such a fun holiday.  I loved the fact that the whole day is centered around candy-a lot of which is CHOCOLATE!  :)

Today, I made a fruity Halloween card.   This card is Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz and Perfect Plum. I love the names that SU! gives their colors.

I think this little witch is so cute sitting on a pumpkin.  She makes me smile--she must be a good witch.  Yep, no ruby slippers!

Stamps: All Holidays-retired, Greeting Card Kids
DSP: Just Add Cake
Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz, Perfect Plum and Peach Parfait
Accessories: Staz On Ink, Scallop Dot Ribbon, Spider Web Impressions folder, circles #2 die, scallop circle punch, aqua painter

If you would like to order supplies for this card, you can do so online by clicking on my shopping cart or emailing me.

My daughter, Dani works on two hobby farms.   I am amazed when she gets home and recaps her day at work. Here are some of my personal favorites.  She has ripped out fences, built a round pen, split wood, vaccinated animals, insulated a garage, hung plywood, refinished doors, pulled out posts,  and tiled a bathroom.

She also does little everyday things to like planting gardens and trees and LOTS of mowing and weeding.

This morning, Dani took her camera with her to work. I told her to take some pictures of some of her favorite things about working on the farms that I could scrapbook for her.  I wasn't surprised when there was a picture of this little one.

Isn't she sweet?!! Her name is June or  June Bug as Dani calls her.  She was a surprise lamb born 2 months late (in June). This little one has adopted Dani as her mommy and bleats whenever she hears Dani's voice.  She runs up to the fence and waits for Dani to pet her.
Dani has  brought June home to babysit a few times while the couple she works for went on a couple weekend trips.  June evidently rides well in Dani's front seat of her car.
I think there may be a few tears when Dani has to leave her behind to head off to college.

Flashback

I have PILES of retired designer series paper and I thought it would be fun to have a stampin' flashback. Do you recognize this DSP?  It has a copyright on each sheet of 2007!  Some of the colors in it are Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip and Groovy Guava.
It is Afternoon Tea! I had a WHOLE package of it and I thought rather than it sit dusty in my stampin' room, I would use it up. It sure is pretty even after 5 years of sitting on my paper hoarder. :)

I made a dozen of these cards today.  I even had some Wild Wasabi double stitched ribbon from a ribbon share I did w/ my sister in law, Julie.  Thanks, Julie! :)

I did; however, sell my Groovy Guava supplies--I was kicking myself for that when I found this DSP.  Now I know why I keep everything--just in case! I made a Calypso Coral butterfly instead.  It worked.   LOL The stamp set is also retired is came out in 2006--Warmest Regards.  I love the font.

What have you been hoarding?   Do you keep your old dsp, cardstock and stamp sets?
I would love to hear that I'm not the only hoarder around.  :)

Now, I have to hurry  back to my Stampin' Room to see what else I can make w/ this dsp before Evan wakes up from his nap.

I hope you get a chance to stamp today too.

Grandpa's Barn...

My girls loved going down to the farm and helping with the chores.   It was really a highlight for them to go spend time at Grandma and Grandpa's.  They loved to feed calves and help out. It was amazing. They loved to go and do chores at Grandma and Grandpa's.  They would stay for a week at a time and never complain about chores.  At home, chores meant groans and those girls could vanish as if into thin air at the mere mention of chores.

Evan was still afraid of the cows, but loves the calves--well except when the lick him.   They have rough tongues and he doesn't seem to enjoy it touching him.

My husband, Terry grew up on the farm and I know that if he would have had the option he would have liked to farm himself. I don't know if he would have liked the milking part of farming, but definitely growing crops.  He enjoyed going down to the farm to help to put up hay when he had time.

Here's a picture of Grandpa's barn last fall.  I took pictures to make Evan picture books for the speech therapist.

Here's Grandpa:
Taking a break from chores to come and visit Evan and me at the barnyard fence. :)

After the barn fire on August 13, 2011

Riley Kate spent the last week helping out down at the farm. Chores were more challenging. Grandma made a makeshift milk house in another building and Riley Kate and her cousins hauled warm water from the house to mix w/ milk replacer to feed the calves. They helped deliver hay and feed to older calves. Caring for the calves took them about 4 hours a day.

Terry and Dani made a couple trips down to the farm. Dani spent the day after the fire looking for a missing calf. It was found and is doing well. She helped corral some calves that escaped from their pens. Terry made a trip to go pick up feed , delivered it and unloaded it into Grandma’s makeshift milk house/feed room.

I tried to help out as best I could w/ Evan. He and I spent time indoors. We helped keep track of food that was brought in by friends and neighbors, get meals on the table and clean up.

Now I know why the girls love to help Grandma and Grandpa—EVERY little thing you do for them is appreciated. They are just good people. ♥

Yesterday the cows were auctioned. It was tough. It is like watching 60 of your pets go. The cows were born on Grandma and Grandpa’s farm. Many of them my girls helped feed when they visited and some they helped name.

One of the cows sold even spent a summer at our house when the girls decided they wanted to have calves here to take care. Grandma and Grandpa had Uncle Matthew bring calves, feed, bottles, buckets and milk replacer up for the girls. It was probably more hassle than help, but they never batted an eye at hauling them about 30 miles to our house.

We would appreciate your prayers and well wishes while Grandma and Grandpa clean up and decide what they are going to do next.

Dizzy Little Monster

I love Evan's little hat that I found him at a garage sale.  It has matching little green furry monster mittens to match too!  Well if you are anything like me and LOVE rubber stamps and everything that goes along w/ them, sometimes you have to be thrifty in other areas.  I garage sale when I can especially for Evan's clothes.  There are so many sales w/ kid's clothes w/ prices just a fraction of buying new.  I never knew I was so politically correct--I'm recycling and having fun doing it!  HOW GREEN!

If you like to save cents and want to scrapbook about it,  type alt+0162 to create the cent symbol.

***Notice Evan's jeans and shirt also garage sale goodies! :)

I have (1) Scallop Dot Ribbon Share left and the ends of the 1/8" taffeta ribbon -- it's a little more than 2 yards on some rolls a little less on others, but comes up to the same amount of ribbon.  If you are interested in either on of these ribbon shares, shoot me an email.  :)

Frame It!

It's been awhile.  Sorry about that, but we are in the home stretch.  It is 25 days until Dani leaves for college!  There is so much to do.  I can't believe all those little things that we have neglected until now.  EEK!  For those of you who have sent kids off to college, I would love to hear how you stayed sane.
I have had this card in my head for days. I finally bought the French Foliage set and I am so stoked. I LOVE IT!  It is a great set that I didn't think I needed when it came out in the holiday mini last fall. I knew I was mistaken when I kept seeing all the beautiful cards made w/ it. :)
This card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".  I made a frame the same size as my card front and left a 1" border around the edge.

I stamped in Early Espresso, More Mustard and (you won't believe this) Lucky Limeade. I used More Mustard and Lucky Limeade Markers and colored directly on my leaf stamp, cut it out and popped it out.

Happy Stamping!

Sweet Sympathy Card

My brother in law, Jeff passed away on July 21st after a short battle w/ cancer.  Our family was devastated.  It's horrible to watch cancer take hold of your loved one.

I sent out several requests for sympathy cards to be sent to my sister, Julie and her daughters.  I was surprised to find this sweet sympathy card in my mailbox....

I absolutely loved the cherries.  Although the picture doesn't show it very well, Cindy used Crystal Effects and made them shiny.

Thank you for the wonderful card, Cindy. It was so appreciated.  ***HUGS***
