Soldier Cards

Do you recognize these guys? They are the fronts of placecards from the concert I made! I couldn't just throw them away. I had a couple minutes so I recycled them into cards. I replaced the white base w/ brocade blue, added a sentiment from Kind & Caring Thoughts (Level 3 Hostess) matted in ruby red and stuck a couple of brads that I had laying around on to finish them off.

Chilly Willy--The Penguin

This morning is blustery in Southwestern Wisconsin. The gusty wind reminds me that the warm days of summer are gone and the chilly days of winter will soon be arriving.
After getting Evan down for a nap, I threw on a sweatshirt and headed downstairs and made this little fella. I found him on Patty Bennett's blog CASEd from another blog. One good CASE deserves another right?! :)

He's so cute. I may have to make a whole flock....

I have been wanting to make a quilt card since I seen the first one come through my yahoo groups MONTHS ago. Tonight, I had the kids down early and my husband was working down at his parent's farm. PLAY TIME FOR MOM!
I don't have the SU! Big Shot so I had to improvise w/ the machine I have, but I got it figured out and I love the results! :) Isn't stamping fun???!!
Recipe:

Stamps: Oval All
DSP: retired Bella Birds
Accessories: oval punch, scallop oval, top note die, non SU! ribbon, square punch, non SU! flowers, rhinestone brads, non SU! embossing folder.

Another Birthday Card

On Wednesday, I received another birthday card. My Mother-in-Law designed this card. She used the Stampin' Up! set Heard from the Heart. I love the big green organza bow. :) Thanks Caroline!

Template for Baby Boy Overalls

Many of you asked for a template for the overalls to use to create your own cards. Honestly, I'm lacking much in the way of computer skills. If you right click on the jpeg and save it to your computer. I hope you can open it using Word and enlarge it. *crossing my fingers*
TIPS and TRICKS:
The pockets are just the small tag punch and star punches w/ a little faux stitching--I should have used a ruler! :) The cuffs are just strips of CS glued on and then trimmed to fit.
When I made the overalls, I did not cut the neck out of the shirt free hand, I used a circle punch. Also, when I cut out the bibs, I did not cut the notch out for the crotch of the pants--I waited until I folded the CS in half so it would be even. Finally, I did not cut out the neck of the bibs, I punch it using the SU! square punch.

PlaceCards are FINISHED

Awhile back, my sister asked me to make 100 patriotic placecards for a private concert she is hosting. Royal Wade Kimes, a country singer featured on XM radio is coming to Potosi Wisconsin! Can you believe that? My sister and brother-in-law have gotten to know Mr. Kimes through his charity Backpack for Kids. He has shown an interest in getting out and meeting his fans. My sister offered to host his first concert and meet and greet. Well--I don't have XM radio, but my sister assures me that I am in for a treat on Saturday night at the concert.

Hours and Hours and HOURS later...here are the placecards. I had no idea when I started this project how long it would take to cut, stamp, color and assemble 100 of these placecards would take!! I love the soldier from the SU! Courage set, but it will be awhile before I will want to color another one. Geesh, I have colored a WHOLE PLATOON!

Evan's First Birthday Invite

I can't believe that I am already working on Evan's first birthday invites. Has it really been almost year since his birth? It goes by so quickly.

This morning, I sat down and made a template. I love overalls. After two girls in dresses, it is fun to FINALLY have a little guy that I can dress in overalls and little striped shirts. So I thought it was appropiate to make his invites.....OVERALLS!

Here's the backside of his overalls....

Here's his little striped shirt.....

Here's the outfit....

I mean invite.... :)

Two must CASE cards...

I've been CASEing! Here are two cards that I thought needed to be CASEd.

I needed a simple QUICK card for my 16 year old nephew. (When I saw this card by Lisa Vale, I knew that I had to CASE.) His birthday is the same day as mine.....so I had to get out my belated birthday wishes stamp. Someday, I will get all the cards out on time!

Recipe:

Stamps: Party Hearty

CS: Baja Breeze, Whisper White and Kraft

DSP: Parisian Breeze

INK: Baja Breeze, Close To Cocoa

ACCESSORIES: linen thread, needle, paper piercer, 3/4" circle punch, dimensionals

This second card is an example of faux stitching and faux layering. The original by Miss Boo a/k/a jen70 on SCS is amazing. She did more faux stitching--making swirls and adding punched flowers. I am not that talented. If you have ANY TIPS how to stitch the swirls onto a card, PLEASE share! I would love to know.....

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Petal Pizzazz

CS: Certainly Celery, Whisper White

INK: Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst and Regal Rose

ACCESSORIES: post-it notes, dimensionals, mat pack and paper piercer

My Birthday Card

I celebrated my 37th birthday on Thursday. It is so much fun to receive cards, but I have to admit that it's the handmade cards that I enjoy most. My Sister-in-Law, Joni sent me this cute little card using ALL of my favorite colors. I can't remember the name of the retired set she used.....Bud Basics? Leave me a comment and let me know the name if you can remember. (It's old age.....I can't remember things the way I did when I was young! lol)
Look on page 101 in the current Stampin' UP! Idea Book and Catalog. Joni copied the idea. Good for her! There are so many good ideas in the catalog.

Where Have I Been?

I have been hanging out at Sparkpeople.com. It is a free weight loss site that I have been involved in since March of 2007. I had lost 123 pounds before having Evan last October. Well this summer the weight went up, up...UP! (I know that is so backward, but I love ice cream cones and beer brats.) So I jumped back on the Sparkpeople wagon and started eating right and exercising again. I don't ever want to be that heavy again....I can't fit into my favorite stampin' jeans!
If you want to check it out, it's FREE!
Here's the link to my page if you want to check it out: www.sparkpeople.com/mypage.asp?id=WendySue72. Sorry, I couldn't get the hyperlink to work.
