Cherry Mist.. Christmas Nugget Tin

Today, I worked on some more nugget tins.  This was one of my favorites.  I can't help myself--this little girl from the Greeting Card Kids set it one of my all time favorite stamps.  Instead of traditional Christmas colors the Frostwood dsp has this gorgeous Marina Mist and Cherry Cobbler plaid.  I just LOVE it!   Sometimes I wish SU! sold some of the dsp by the individual sheet.  I would be a whole stack of this sheet.  The backside is the woodgrain that I have under my grosgrain ribbon and half the nuggets are wrapped in.  If you are doing Christmas stamping, I highly recommend the Frostwood.  I give it 2 thumbs up!  :)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler
Stamp Set: Greeting Card Kids
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi,  Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist
Accessories: 2 way glue, dazzling diamond glitter, aqua painter, retired Marina Mist Grosgrain (there's other ribbon that would match perfectly, but I was using up some of my retired product), Big Shot, Tastefully Trim die, non-SU! circle and scallop dies

Four Frames Nugget Tin

Today is another sunny fall day in Wisconsin.  It's been a beautiful autumn.  We have had some warm days and a lot of sun.  It has been a picture perfect fall.  It's the type of weather that makes you smile and think about happy thoughts. I am looking forward to taking Evan out this afternoon to Riley Kate's volleyball game.  I get to enjoy a little of the autumn scenery.  Although Wisconsin is past our peak of fall colors, there are still some trees that are showing off their best.  :)

While Evan napped, I worked on some nugget tins.
Here is my favorite:

Supplies used to make the tin:
Stamp Set: Four Frames (neat set)
Cardstock: Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip
DSP: Frostwood Lodge and Bella Blossoms (retired)*
Punches: Decorative Label and Scallop Trim border
Accessories: NOT SU! jute twine, tin and Hershey's nuggets

*alternative chocolate chip dsp can be found in
neutrals dsp stack, Frostwood Lodge, and Letter to Santa packages.

It's a POPPIN' Polar Party

My little guy, Evan turns 3 years old on Wednesday.   While we are excited about his upcoming birthday, we are sad because we lose our Speech Therapist, KrisAnn.   KrisAnn has been making weekly visits to our home since Evan was 15 months old.  When I first suspected autism, the Birth-3 program came in and helped us find services for Evan.  KrisAnn was wonderful with Evan.  She helped us get started using American Sign Language w/ Evan which has been a Godsend.  Evan is making more sounds and I am hoping by the end of his 3rd year that he'll have some words.

Last night while Terry played w/ Evan, I snuck away to stamp.  Ahhhhh!
I have a fresh sketch from Krista's Cards & Things Challenge Blog and an itch to play along.
Maybe it will be contagious and you'll want to play along this week too?!

Isn't this little guy cute?  He's all decked out to celebrate!

This popcorn sleeve puts the 'things' in the Cards & Things challenge.  I am making

Up, Up and Away!

Yawn! I always thought I was a morning person, but the last couple weeks have been hard on me. Riley Kate decided to go out for volleyball this year. After I agreed and she's all signed up and excited, I find out that practices are in the wee hours of the morning BEFORE school. I have noticed that the trip into school is getting darker and darker. When practice first started it was starting to get light outside. Now it's DARK! The only other creatures I have found awake at this time are skunks, possum, raccoons and DEER. I learned after the first couple mornings to allow more time for the drive and take it slow. I don't want an antler hood ornament.

I was half hoping the first couple mornings that she wouldn't like it--I was jonesin' for some Zzzz's. But she loves it and for her first year playing, she is doing pretty well. So this old mom will continue to get up in the dark and take her into town for the next 3 1/2 weeks. (Not that I'm counting!) LOL

Krista has a new sketch over on her Cards & Things Challenge blog.
If you don't already play along, it's a great week to start!

Next week, Evan will turn 3! I used the sketch to make his birthday card.
It's a bright one!

Want To Go Steady?

This week there's a new sketch challenge over at Krista's Cards and Things Challenge Blog.  It's a good one!  Stop over to her blog and play along!

I had a card in mind when I started making my challenge card.   My 'mental card' was NOTHING like this.  But I spotted this retired set, Best Fiends on the shelf and well the rest is history! :)

I love the Best Fiends set.  Whoever the artist was who created it did a great job! Dracula just makes me giggle.   How can you resist a face like this or the eyeball bouquet for that matter? He looks so spiffy in his cape.  It accents his hair and fangs so well.   I wonder what kind of moisterizer he uses  to achieve that amazing skin tone.  Ladies, wouldn't you just love to have an olive complexion?

I think he's asking, "Want to go steady??"
Honestly, I think I had worse offers in high school.  LOL

What I used to make this card:
Stamp set: Best Fiends (there are a lot of current Halloween stamps from SU that are AMAZING!)
Cardstock: Rich RazzleBerry, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Rich RazzleBerry, Basic Gray, Basic Black, Old Olive
DSP: Retired Old Olive
Accessories: Aqua Painters, Sponges, Big Shot, Spider Web embossing folder, Tasteful Trim Die, googlie eyes.

Vintage Because I Care

I needed some quick "Thinking of You" cards.  I typically avoid vintage cards, because they aren't clean.  When I assembled this card clean and it was yawn worthy--it just looked unfinished. So I built up my courage and I grabbed the corner of the dsp and ripped it off quick like a band-aid. It's hard for a 'clean stamper' to mess up her edges.  There was no turning back then.  LOL  . I "dirtied it up" with a couple more  little rips, some crumb cake ink swiped on it, and  by distressing the edges. I didn't go too wild.   It is a clean vintage card.  :)

Supplies I used to make this card:
Stamp Set: Because I Care (retired)--a current set you could use that would work well Field Flowers
Cardstock: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Cherry Cobbler
Ink: Staz On Jet Black, Crumb Cake, Certainly Celery, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: First Edition dsp, antique brads, metallic brads, mat pack, paper piercer, aqua painter, cutter kit (distressing)

Need supplies to make this card.  Please order from my online store!

Come to Bethlehem

Today, I took some time to do some custom cards for customers. I had four customers request religious Christmas cards.  It's hard to think Christmas when the leaves are bright and the weather is warm.  In fact, it was hard to keep myself inside today--it is GORGEOUS in Wisconsin.

It was even harder to stay indoors when Terry and Evan were taunting me.  They kept riding past the window on the four wheeler.  I'm glad Terry had some time at home to play.  He has been very busy the last few weeks working 7 days a week.   Evan is definitely a daddy's boy--it's just because of the toys!  LOL

SU! supplies needed to make this card:

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Staz On jet black, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake
Accessories: sponges, modern label punch, oval punch, vintage wallpaper embossing folder, neutrals dsp stack, big shot, rhinestones

Using What I Have: Have a Seat

I needed an All Occasion card that was suitable as a "Thinking of You", "Sympathy", and "Anniversary" card.  I thought that this bench from Have a Seat was just the stamp for all these occasions.

I am back to using what I have out of my stash.  I must have stashed 3 whole packages of the Elegant Soiree dsp on my shelf.  It was time to pull it down and rip it open.  I made 16 of these cards and used up 2 sheets out of the package. If you add a little dsp here and there it can go a LONG way.

I tried out a couple different ribbons on my cards.  I really like the Crumb Cake Taffeta Ribbon for the sympathy card and the Baja Breeze Seam Binding for the Anniversary card.  I thought the Anniversary card should be a little more dressed up.

I also dressed up the bench with a litte cardstock flower.  My flower was made using a retired punch, (flower trio or something like that) only because (confession time) my table was such a mess that I couldn't find my little flower punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.  Looking in my catalog, I could have used the one of the flowers from the Boho Blossoms Punch too.

To make your flower: Punch it, Crunch it, and Poke it!  Ta-dah!
I added a metallic brad to the center of mine.  :)

If I were to make this card using current SU! dsp, I would probably use the Letters to Santa dsp on page 186 of the Idea Book & Catalog.  I love the plaid.  It could make a little more masculine card.

Current Products:
Stamp Set: Have a Seat
Ink: Soft Suede
Cardstock: Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, Metallic Brads, Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Crumb Cake Taffeta Ribbon, Big Shot, Houndstooth Embossing Folder

Gargoyles, Horses, Rainbows and a Little Stampin'...

I love Sunday afternoons, there's Evan's nap, football, and stamping!  I often sneak down to the basement while Evan naps and make my Cards & Things Challenge Card for the week and then hurry up to snuggle up by my honey to watch football.  GO Packers!

This weekend; however, I stamped my challenge card and then got Dani ready to head back to college. She is coming home a couple times a month for food and laundry service.  I will gladly pick her up a few groceries and do a couple loads of laundry is she comes home and spends the weekend w/ us.

This week, Krista choose some really soft colors for her color challenge.  I immediately thought baby card, but took it in another direction.

I bought the Serene Snowflakes set awhile back and it was sitting on my table unmounted. I thought these colors would be perfect for a winter card.  I was MOST excited about Mr. Snowman's  pink/chocolate scarf and hat.  They are my two favorite colors together.

Here are the supplies you need to make this card:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Staz-On, Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie, Blushing Bride, Chocolate Chip
Stamp Sets: Snow Much Fun,  Serene Snowflakes, Best of Everything (sentiment)
Accessories: Corner Rounder Punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Stripes Embossing Folder, Tasteful Trim die, Big Shot, Aqua Painters, rhinestones

Terry invited Evan and me to go for a ride down into Northern Illinois w/ him last Thursday. Evan loves to go in the car with Mom and Dad to see all the sites. Don't you just love his rooster tail?  It doesn't matter how much I comb it down, it wants to stick straight out!   :)

It was rainy, sunny, and very windy on our trip. This is the midwest we are talking about--we have it all.  Sometimes in just one day!   In fact, we were under a wind advisory Thursday afternoon.  It really wasn't bad until we got almost back to the Wisconsin border. In fact, we were behind a semi for a few miles that was having a rough time controlling the truck and trailer when the wind would gust.

Sorry for the qualities of the next couple photos they were taken out my car window.

This is a double rainbow over a farm in Northern Illinois.

I love this time of year with the corn stalks drying out and  the corn about ready to be harvested.

Here's two little minature horses that were unamused by the lady calling out her window and taking pictures of them.. I had to get a few shots  of them to show my girls.

These little horses look like they are either mixed with a  pot bellied pig or well fed. I giggled their legs are SO short--kinda like mine!!  I tried to convince Terry that the girls need one.  He didn't believe me.

And last but not least.....  I have never seen a gargoyle in a bush before, but I have now.  This was in the front yard in Illinois.  I didn't know quite what to think of it---still don't!  Oddly, Terry saw nothing strange about this creepy little fella.  I'm SO glad that I decorate our house and mow the yard.  Who knows what the decor could be if I left it up to Terry.  LOL
