Baby Steps

Thank Goodness it's Monday! Yes, I know that's not a common phrase. I feel like Monday is my day to get back on track after having everyone home over the weekend. The weekends are a bustle of activity. Monday morning I say goodbye to the girls and my husband, Terry and sigh. Although it only lasts a minute, Evan still loves to have mommy's undivided attention.

This weekend we celebrated my oldest daughter, Dani's 18th birthday on 10/10/10. I'm not sure where the last 18 years have gone, but I am definitely not ready to see her go off to college next year. :(

This is Dani. She is so smart, funny and my animal lover. She is looking into colleges that offer pre-vet.

I did take a few minutes to work on the Cards & Things color challenge for this week. I had no problem visualizing these colors. Especially the blushing bride....that's easy...it's PINK!

Here's my card. I used the cute little elephant stamp--Baby Steps.

I decided that it just wasn't right to make a little girl card for the challenge and not make a little boy card too. :)

The Finished Quilt

Okay, I love my online stampin' and I guess quiltin' friends. So many people came to me with suggestions on how to bind this quilt. Thank you so much, Ladies! You are truly the best and saved me from spending a day Googling and panicking. :)

I received a couple emails that said just what I wanted to hear....NO BINDING! These ladies knew their rag quilts and said that most have a straight stitch seam around the outside of the quilt and then the edges are just frayed like the rest of the squares. I love it---so much easier than actually learning to bind it!

I had no idea how many squares go into such a little quilt. I don't think I'm ready to tackle a Queen size for my bed yet! I think I'm more of a throw pillow kind of person. LOL

Gotta love the crazy pink camo squares. (Personally I love the gingham!)

Camo Quilt-A Work in Progress

A while back, I made a pink camo diaper bag for a friend's sister-in-law. This same friend asked if I would make a matching baby quilt. I don't sew. I have made a few quilted bags using our Scallop Square Die and the Big Shot, but sew a quilt....um no!

Well I decided to be brave. The worse thing that would happen is that I would be buying the material that my friend supplied from her and apologizing for my lack of sewing ability.
Last night, I finished sewing squares together (FINALLY). Omgosh, there's a lot of little squares in a quilt.

Today, I will be using You Tube to find good instructions (and easy I hope) on how to bind a quilt.

Sweet Little One

My new great niece, Shannon . I think she is just the most gorgeous baby.

I have a request. My niece, Lindsey and baby Shannon had to say good-bye to Shannon's daddy last night. He will spend the next month at Fort McCoy and then will be deployed to Afghanistan for the next year. Ryan, Shannon's daddy, was allowed to be home for 48 hours for his daughter's birth.

Lindsey just turned 20 yesterday, has a brand new baby and a husband that will be gone for the next year.
If you could send her a card congratulating her on the new baby or a thinking of her while Ryan is away I would really appreciate it and so would she.

My niece, Lindsey had her baby yesterday afternoon. I couldn't wait to make a PINK scrapbook layout to introduce her to all of you....

I LOVE My Digital Studio. A couple keystrokes and new font and unlike traditional scrapbooking--no wasted cardstock! :)

Monkey See. Monkey Do. A Little Monkey Bag for You.

My friend and customer, Belinda wanted a custom bag for her sister who is expecting her first baby. Belinda brought me the most adorable fabric I have ever seen. It's Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip. It's so stinkin' cute!

Belinda made a request that the outside of the bag be made w/ one fabric and the inside w/ another. This is a first for me...

DSP: Sweet Always (retired)** A couple of great substitutions for the retired DSP in the current catalog would be "Love Birds", "BABW Pawsitively Prints", "Celebrations" and "Nursery Suite Specialty".

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Stampin' Write Markers: Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom and Pretty in Pink

Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Dimensionals, Rhinestone Brads, mat pack and paper piercer, 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon.

SU! LNS Challenge #32

The challenge for this week was to take a project in the current SU! Catalog CASE it just a little different. I'm a professional CASEr so this was just the challenge for me. My first challenge and my first try at watercoloring...I might add!

I took the scrapbook layout on page 90 of the catalog using the Sock Monkey set.

- I used the Pun Fun set.

- I changed the colors (pumpkin pie, bashful blue, old olive and close to cocoa)

- I flipped the layout over

- I left the old olive rectangle as a journaling block

- I used stars, a rhinestone brad and bashful blue and pumpkin pie ribbon.

AND FINALLY

- I used the CUTEST LITTLE BOY'S Photos. Mr. Evan! :)
