Chelsea's Blue Daisy Rag Bag

I promised Riley Kate that I would make her best friend, Chelsea a rag bag for her birthday. I agreed to this months ago, well last night Riley Kate notified me that the time had come for me to keep that promise. :) So she rummaged through the material that I have had in a tote in the closet for YEARS.
Here's what she decided on. She found some navy solid material and some material that I had bought to make Dani a dress when she was just little. (Dani will be 18 years old next month) Needless to say, I told Riley Kate she could probably choose that material. LOL


Here's the traditional side of the bag. I think this is my favorite side. I like the clean look.


Here's the 'ragged' side of the bag. Riley Kate loves the frayed look.

In every bag, I made a removeable "faux" bottom. I use a piece of chipboard and make a 'pillowcase' to cover it. I do this to help the bag keep it's form and not collapse when you put anything in it. I also do it so that if you spill anything in the bottom of the bag, it's easy to pull the bottom out and wash it and replace the chipboard.

Now the bag is ready to go.... I attached the birthday tag to the strap. :)

I think she's going to love it!

Monkey See. Monkey Do. A Little Monkey Bag for You.

My friend and customer, Belinda wanted a custom bag for her sister who is expecting her first baby. Belinda brought me the most adorable fabric I have ever seen. It's Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip. It's so stinkin' cute!

Belinda made a request that the outside of the bag be made w/ one fabric and the inside w/ another. This is a first for me...

Bev's Bag

Bev Penick contacted me and asked if I would consider doing a custom order bag for her using Stampin' Up!'s Scallop Square die and the Big Shot. I agreed, but warned her that I am anything but a quilter/sewer/seamstress.
Bev sent me beautiful fabric to construct her bag. The red fabric was gorgeous in real life--heavy and textured and the other fabrics were bold and bright. The rich colors definitely made a statement.

I finished Bev's bag up and sent it off to her.

Diaper Bags

I was asked by my friend, Belinda to sew custom diaper bags for her sister in law who is expecting a baby girl. I'm not a sewer/quilter so I was REALLY nervous about taking on this project. Let's see how I did....

The first bag I made was a pink camo bag. I thought this turned out pretty cute! I even added little pockets on each end of the bag for a binky or cellphone, but they are camouflaged! LOL

While the camo bag was cute, this pink and brown diaper bag is ADORABLE. I'm having a really hard time coming to terms with giving it to Belinda on Tuesday. I love this bag! It is just the perfect size for all the little necessities for baby...

Here's the inside or it could be the outside--quilted rag bags are reversible! If you would prefer the 'clean look' to the ragged look just turn the bag inside out! :) Inside each of my rag bags is a faux bottom. It is a sleeve that I have slipped chipboard inside to sturdy up the bottom. The nice thing about it being removable is that if there is a spill in your bag, slip out the bottom, pull out the chipboard and throw the material in the washing machine and dry. Then just slip new chipboard in the sleeve and wah-lah good as new!

Rag Bag Bandwagon

I jumped on the bandwagon. It was a huge LEAP for someone like me--I don't sew. I have seen the bags and loved them. This is my first attempt and I'm happy--The bag actually resembles those I have seen online. I had to go it alone without any tutorials. My computer is too slow and will not load videos. So be kind....this is me alone w/ my very dusty sewing machine that my Mother-in-law gave me when Terry and I got married.
