Quilted Bags

I made several bags for last week's craft fair.   I made two of the teal and brown bags.  The first one sold right away and I panicked.  I loved the fabrics.  I immediately shoved the other bag under the table for me.  LOL  Yeah, I'm never going to make a lot from craft fairs if I keep shoving everything I make for them  out of sight and taking them back home. 

Oh well--I {heart} my bag! 

AND I have enough fabric to make a matching checkbook cover.  :)

I made a bunch of black and orange bags for the craft fair. I know black and orange what a color combination.  They are great for Halloween and if you happen to be in a school district that has these as school colors.

Boy, Oh Boy...Train Bags

Remember my little train card from yesterday? Well here's my inspiration for my train.... I found this cute material at my local Walmart store. We are so lucky to have fabric--they fought hard to keep their craft section. Most Walmarts no longer carry fabric--for me that means at least an hour drive to JoAnn Fabrics or Hobby Lobby.

I finished my first two train bags. I made them exactly the same since the new babies are going to live so far apart it shouldn't be an issue.

This is the outside of the bag. It washed up beautifully. The scallops frayed perfectly! :)On the inside of the bag instead of using the train fabric, I used a blue/white gingham for a different look. Now it's like have two bags in one!

I had a few extra squares sitting on the table and I had an AH-HA moment. Those moments don't come very often, so I am excited when they do occur.

My thought....are you ready?..... CHANGING PAD! I know how much I dislike having babies bare button touch public changing stations or if I'm changing baby on someone's carpet to have a little faucet turn on in the middle of the diaper change and get their carpet/bed wet.

It's pretty simple just 9 squares.

The Color Purple

I'm sorry...these are not great pictures. This bag is TRUE Crayola Crayon Purple. My camera does not like the color purple. I tried to take pictures inside, outside, with flash, without flash, by a window, near a door, no lights on, all lights on... there was just no good place. :(
Maybe that is one reason I rarely use purple for card making--or maybe it's because purple is not one of my favorite colors. Perhaps you can tell that I like pink. lol

Anyway, this bag is for Kari, she is turning 13 years old this week and purple IS her favorite color.

This bag is 3 squares by 3 squares on the front and then it is 3 squares x 2 squares on the sides and bottom. It is a great size for sleepovers, Phy. Ed. or TRICK OR TREATING. Awhile back I made a bag for another one of Riley Kate's friend, Chelsea. She used her bag to carry her Halloween Loot. :)

Riley Kate's bag has been a hit with all of her friends. She has polled every girl in her 7th grade class on what their favorie color is so I see LOTS of bag making during this school year.

Bag Supplies:

Cotton Batting, Fabric, Thread, pins, Big Shot, Scallop Square Die, Scissors and Chipboard (for making a sturdy bottom)

An October Birthday

Someone very special to me is having an October birthday. My mother-in-law and I decided that that special someone needed a black and white rag bag. We went and picked out the material together. I picked the polka dots--I love dots! :) Then we spent an afternoon together and finished it up. I'm very partial to the 'clean side' so that ragged side is turned in for the picture. :) It's my blog..lol...I can do that!

Best Mom in the WHOLE WORLD

Yes, that is my title for the day. I'm the "Best Mom in the WHOLE WORLD"! You may be wondering how one acquires this title. You make them a rag bag! Although with a 12 year old girl nothing is guaranteed. It's pretty touchy and depends on the day. I step softly and carry a big stick (for my own protection) most days. Honestly, Riley Kate is pretty good and asks for little which is why this is so much fun.

Riley Kate LOVES Scooby Doo. For years and years now we have collected all things Scooby. I thought it would be a short phase--I was wrong. Anyway, last Sunday Riley Kate rode along w/ me to JoAnn Fabrics and found this cute Scooby material. She instantly wanted it and I have been promising her that after I got my 100 things to do list complete, I would make her a bag.

Well you know what, those 100 things to do are still on the list and I have one happy little girl. I made her own rag bag. She's already talking about gym clothes and sleep overs and all the things she can use her bag for. Thank goodness it's washable!

Caroline's Rag Bag

Today, my mother-in-law and friend (who else besides me can say that?), Caroline came up and she brought material to make a rag bag. She brought this amazing black and white material. I will be honest, I was a little nervous that it would be too busy when we got it together. I put Caroline to work cutting batting while I cut the scallop squares on the Big Shot. She cut and pressed the straps (shhhhh! this is my least favorite part of making the bag--ironing. YUCK!) I quilted the squares while Caroline looked through my stamps. I layed out the pieces and Caroline started assembling. Well in the meantime, Evan joined us in the craft room. Like a terrific grandma, Evan was way more fun the I took over on the sewing machine. I assembled the rest of the bag, but because Caroline can sew straighter she got to the top stitch that rounds around the entire bag. She did some extra stitching to reinforce her straps. We added a faux bottom and WAH-LAH a simple black and white rag bag! Tomorrow she's taking it to church. :) I love it! ♥

Oh and Caroline got here about 1pm. We visited, played with Evan, planned out the bag and still had the bag completely done by 5pm. I thought we did pretty good. (We are both pretty chatty! lol)
